So earlier this week I made the trek up to utar for thanksgiving. Originally I was going to be leaving on Tuesday night, but I needed to do some stuff to my truck beforehand. I had to get my shocks and struts replaced and an A/F ratio sensor. Luckily for my Justin, my brother-in-law, was able and willing to help me out. With the shocks replaced I was ready to go on Wednesday morning. With the 400 lbs of oranges I took off before dawn.
Seeing the sunrise and passing Zzyzx road (good luck pronouncing that if you're not from around the area) I made it to baker when it was 52 outside (btw the Tommy's burger in Barstow at 9 am really hit the spot)
Everything was going well until just outside of Vegas, heading past it that is. Even the traffic in Vegas wasn't really bad, just a short spot of slowing down, but it was good, all things considered. The bad stuff happened 15 or 20 minutes outside of town. That's when traffic stopped dead in its tracks. People were getting out of their cars, laying on top of them and even walking their dogs. A lot of people were just driving through the media and heading south and trying to find a back road, which eventually I tried to do as well. Turns out that as I was heading down the side road, it turns into a dirt road. I actually wound up just wasting a bunch of time but i did get to see the car that ran into a semi. It was crushed really bad, but I didn't get a picture of it. I decided to get back in line after realizing I was just wasting my time trying to save time. All in all I wasn't going anywhere for at least an hour and a half. (it was a 3 vehicle accident and involved at least one fatality)
Having the Vegas junk behind me the rest of the drive was fine and I made it to Orem without any other problems. Time to enjoy the cold weather while I can...
